DAY 1

TILLSAMMANS = TOGETHER!

Christer Lindström, founder of the Institute for Sustainable Transportation (IST) , expressed it well in his speech during the Castle dinner. He emphasised that the whole Uppsala event is something we do Together, (Tillsammans in Swedish).
Christer Lindström, founder of the Institute for Sustainable Transportation (IST) , expressed it well in his speech during the Castle dinner. He emphasised that the whole Uppsala event is something we do Together, (Tillsammans in Swedish).

Of course there are different vendors, different systems, different authorities, researchers etc and there certainly is competition!

But nevertheless, a general feeling of togetherness was there, that corresponded to Lindströms plea.

All involved in the podcar movement have a common interest in promoting the whole concept. The market potentials are enormous, thus it can be something in it for everyone.

One of the themes during the second day of the event, was

Networking at the municipal level.

A spectacular expression of this, was a video conference, conducted by Christer Lindström, where podcar supporters at the US west coast participated.

Conclusions

The Concluding plenary with a panel discussion was introduced by Arne Kaijser, professor in the History of Technology, at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm.

Arne gave a broad and highly interesting and relevant overview of earlier transportation paradigms, the circumstances for their introduction and the transformations involved. He ended with the remark that maybe this conference is a start for a new transportation paradigm.

The participants were rather unanimous about the attitude that we must now move from sounds to things. All is at hand for podcar pilot tracks!
